چکیده
Mrs. G., 47 years old in good health, consults for moderate canine-to-canine crowding, that she wishes to treat. She was prescribed a periapical series of x-rays, and the images taken of the incisors showed lacunae that attracted attention. Additional examinations were requested of her, and pulpal vitality tests were done: 11, 21, and 22 responded positively. 12 had a previous root canal and a ceramo-metal restoration.

aorta, which milks edema fluid from the adjacent lung, increasing lymphatic return; this re-aerates that portion of the lung, creating a ‘kinetic border line’ [1] . A similar mechanism likely accounts for the subpleural peripheral radiolucent rim noted in our patient. Rapid respiration and subsequent rapid chest wall and diaphragmatic movement provide a similar pumping effect that leads to the ...
متن کاملThe incidence of physiological radiolucency following Oxford unicompartmental knee replacement and its relationship to outcome.
Narrow, well-defined radiolucent lines commonly observed at the bone-implant interface of unicompartmental knee replacement tibial components have been referred to as physiological radiolucencies. These should be distinguished from pathological radiolucencies, which are poorly defined, wide and progressive, and associated with loosening and infection. We studied the incidence and clinical signi...
متن کاملRadiolucent rim as a possible diagnostic aid for differentiating jaw lesions
In this study, we formulate a new proposal that complements previous classifications in order to assist dental practitioners in performing a differential diagnosis based on patients' radiographs. We used general search engines and specialized databases such as Google Scholar, PubMed, PubMed Central, MedLine Plus, Science Direct, Scopus, and well-recognized textbooks to find relevant studies by ...
متن کاملRadiolucent lesions of the mandible: a pattern-based approach to diagnosis
OBJECTIVES Radiolucent mandibular lesions seen on panoramic radiographs develop from both odontogenic and non-odontogenic structures. They represent a broad spectrum of lesions with a varying degree of malignant potential. The purpose of this review is to illustrate the characteristic imaging findings-as well as the clinical and histological features-of common and uncommon radiolucent lesions o...
متن کاملTechnical note: radiolucent operating room table extension to facilitate intraoperative angiography.
Recent improvements in digital C-arm radiographic units permit the safe and effective performance of cerebral angiography in the operating room. Intraoperative cerebral angiography, in turn, facilitates more effective aneurysm surgery and arteriovenous malformation therapy (1 , 2]. A variety of radiolucent carbon fiber head holders are now available for use in neurosurgical procedures that invo...
متن کاملThe significance of radiolucent zones surrounding pedicle screws. Definition of screw loosening in spinal instrumentation.
We examined the radiographs from a prospective clinical study of fixation by pedicle screws and those from an experimental study in a sheep model. In the clinical study, instruments were removed from 21 patients after implantation for 11 to 16 months and the extraction torques of the screws were recorded. A structured protocol was used for the radiological examinations. In the experimental stud...
